Naphthol AS-BI b-D-glucuronide is an enzyme inhibitor that inhibits phosphatases, which are enzymes that hydrolyze phosphate esters. It can be used as a marker enzyme to identify cells in lymphocytic leukemia and cancer. Naphthol AS-BI b-D-glucuronide can be used to stain cells in histochemical staining. It was also shown to inhibit the growth of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) animals and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in mice.
2-naphthol AS BI-beta-D-glucuronide (NAG) is a glucuronide ester of 2-naphthol, which is commonly used as a reagent in the enzymatic determination of beta-glucuronidase activity.
