The 2-Chloro-4-nitrophenyl b-D-glucopyranoside is a substrate for the enzyme β-glucosidase. It is used as a culture media for bacteria, as a diagnostic agent to identify the presence of β-glucosidase in urine, and as an analytical reagent for measuring the activity of β-glucosidase.
