2-deoxy-2-fluoro-D-Glucose (2-FG) is a derivative of glucose with anticancer activity. It inhibits the growth of 143B osteosarcoma cells grown under normoxic and hypoxic conditions when used at concentrations of 6 and 24 mM.
2-deoxy-2-fluoro-aldehydo-D-glucose is a 2-deoxy-2-fluoro-D-glucose and an aldehyde. It derives from an aldehydo-D-glucose.
The compound is given by intravenous injection to do POSITRON-EMISSION TOMOGRAPHY for the assessment of cerebral and myocardial glucose metabolism in various physiological or pathological states including stroke and myocardial ischemia.
